Investment Responsibility Internship Program

SMC's Investment Responsibility ESG Research Internship

Stanford's Investment Responsibility Internship Program offers undergraduate and graduate students the opportunity to research and develop social issue background reports in the areas of diversity, labor rights, environmental sustainability, and human rights. This research supports the work of Stanford’s Advisory Panel on Investment Responsibility & Licensing (APIR-L) in addressing allegations of “substantial social injury” from direct or indirect action or inaction by global corporate business policies and practices.

Stanford has a diversified endowment and invests in funds of funds with global portfolios. As a result, interns learn about U.S. and international corporate business practices as well as the broad range of regulations that impact society and the environment.  Students in the program will have the chance to apply their critical thinking and writing skills while drafting reports and action recommendations for review and approval by Stanford APIR-L and the Trustees’ Special Committee on Investment Responsibility (SCIR). Approved recommendations become part of the record guiding current and future Panels and Committees in the Investment Responsibility area.

The Investment Responsibility Internship Program operates under the direction of the Assistant Manager of Investment Responsibility within the Stanford Management Company. All internships are paid and available only to registered undergraduate or graduate Stanford students.
